What to Expect
This is a hands-on workshop where you’ll create your own unique ring from recycled sterling silver. The techniques are delicate and require a certain level of dexterity and independence, but don’t worry—guidance will be provided every step of the way. If you’re unsure whether the workshop is right for you, please get in touch—I’m happy to discuss your needs and help you decide. My goal is for every participant to feel comfortable, confident, and able to fully enjoy the experience.
Age Guidance: The workshop is suitable for adults 18 and over. Participants aged 16–18 are welcome when accompanied by a paying adult—please contact me before booking.
What to Bring: A notebook, apron, container for your items, and a drink (water/coffee). If you use reading glasses please bring them for detailed work.
Studio Guidelines: For safety and comfort in the studio, please tie back long hair, wear closed-toe shoes, and avoid loose clothing or dangling jewellery.
What’s Included:
- 12 Hours of Studio Time: Enjoy guided instruction with your tutor in a fully equipped studio.
- Consumables: Essential materials like solder, emery paper, and practice copper / brass are included.
- Tools and Equipment: Access all necessary tools (files, drills, cutters, saws, hammers, textures, spacers) and electrical equipment (barrelling machine, kiln, pendant motor).
- Workspace: Your own bench with a bench peg for silversmithing.
- A 10% voucher for the Biscuit Factory Kitchen and 15% off voucher for your next jewellery purchase or workshop booking—redeemable once -online or in the studio.
Materials Not Included: Sterling silver sheet or wire, cubic zirconia stones (CZs), silver embellishments, glass cabochons, sea glass, pearls, etc.
Additional Information:
- Personal Tools: Feel free to bring your own tools, clearly labeled as yours.
- Firing and Polishing: You can kiln fire larger silver clay items and tumble polish your finished jewelry.
- Materials for Purchase: A variety of materials (Sterling sheet and wires, sterling silver chains and findings, etc.) are available for purchase at a discounted price during the class.
- Estimated Material Fees: Expect to pay approximately £5 – £25 for sterling silver, depending on the project, payable on the day.
Attendee Limit: Classes are small and intimate, with up to 5 participants. Workshops require a minimum of 2 attendees to run, ensuring a hands-on, supportive experience for everyone.
