Silver clay is exactly what it sounds like — real Silver clay is exactly what it sounds like — real silver in a soft, clay-like form that you can shape, texture, roll, cut and sculpt by hand. It’s made from tiny particles of fine silver mixed with an organic binder and water. Once your piece is finished and fired, the binder burns away, leaving you with fine silver (.999). Read more——> I’ve been working with and teaching silver clay for more than 10 years, and one of the things I love most about it is how accessible it is. You don’t need a traditional jeweller’s bench or lots of specialist tools to get started. It’s a wonderful introduction to jewellery making and, with some basic equipment and a little knowledge, it’s something you can continue experimenting with at home. Read More ——-> It’s also a great way for young people to experience jewellery making. Unlike traditional silversmithing, where you may be working with hammers, saws, torches and other workshop tools, much of the creative process with silver clay is done by hand using simple tools. With appropriate supervision, it can be a much more accessible introduction to working with precious metal. From textured pendants and earrings to rings, charms and completely individual sculptural pieces, there is so much you can create. And the best part? You can start with absolutely no previous jewellery-making experience. My workshops are designed to give you the skills and confidence to understand the material, create your own pieces and, if you fall in love with it, continue making afterwards.
