Create Jewellery -Studio Days

In this creative and social environment you will learn new skills, stretch your creative boundaries and try different techniques with like-minded people around you.

This workshop is open to silversmithing lovers and silverclay lovers. Attendees will work on their own projects and at their own pace during which individual tuition will be given to every student. You will be able to work on your pieces continuously week by week.

Subjects to cover:
Silversmithing: Sawing, filing, drilling, soldering, metal forming by using doming blocks, polishing and finishing, basic stone settings (cabochons).
Silverclay: Rolling & cutting, texturing, layering, pre-fire finishing, post fire finishing, polishing, oxidising to create ‘antiquing’ effect, adding 24ct old accents etc.

You will be able to make rings, pendants, earrings with or without stones (cabochons). This workshop offers a fundamental understanding of the interplay between metal, fire, and forming, providing a hands-on experience in the fascinating world of jewelry creation.

What’s included:

  • 12 hours of studio time with your tutor in a well equipped studio.
  • Consumables (such as solder, emery paper and some copper for practice etc.) are included in the price.
  • All the necessary tools (such as files, drills, cutters, saws, hammers, textures, spacers, etc) in the studio including all the electrical equipment such as the barrelling machine, kiln, pendant motor, etc.
  • Your own bench with a bench peg for silversmithing and/or workspace for silverclay work.

Workshops Price Does Not Cover Following Items: Sterling Silver sheet or wire, silverclay, CZs -Cubic Zirconia stones, silver embellishments, glass cabochons, seaglass, pearls, 24ct gold accent for silverclay, etc.

The studio is well equipped with tools but, feel free to bring your own if you wish, but make sure your tools are clearly labelled as yours. You will be able to kiln fire some of the bigger silverclay items, and tumble polish your finished jewellery. A good stock of Art Clay Silver, sterling sheet and wires, sterling silver chains and findings, fireable stones, and 24k gold accents are available to purchase for a discounted price during the class. However you can bring your own supplies as well but label your supplies as well as please. Please note material fee for sterling silver would be approximately £5 – £25 depending on the project and the current silver Silverclay prices All payable on the day.

What you need to bring: A notebook, an apron, a container to carry your unfinished and finished items etc and a drink (water / coffee), If you need glasses for reading then it is advisable to have them with you during the workshop.

Age Restrictions
18+
16-18 years old can attend as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult. Before booking the workshop for under 18’s please get in touch.

Studio  Rules
Long hair needs to be tied back
Do not wear open-toe shoes in the studio
Do not wear clothing or jewellery that hangs-off the body that might be a danger while using tools and/or machinery
Follow the Government’s current COVID-19 guidelines
