Unleash your creativity in this hands-on workshop led by skilled jeweller Ruby Tynan at Silverkupe Studio. You’ll learn the art of wax ring carving, transforming wax into unique, personalised ring designs using specialised tools and techniques like carving, texturing, and detailing.

Your workshop start by practising on one wax ring, then bring your final design to life on the second. Ruby will guide you throughout, offering demonstrations, tips, and personalised support in a friendly, creative environment.

Your workshop fee includes the full tuition on the day, all wax and workshop consumables, and the professional casting of your ring in sterling silver. Once the rings return from the caster, I will clean, polish, and quality-check your finished ring ready for collection or posting.
Turnaround: Please allow approximately 3–4 weeks for casting and finishing. You’ll be notified as soon as your ring is ready

This workshop runs twice a year, so if you’d like to attend, please book as soon as possible or join the waiting list.
Minimum numbers
This is a small-group workshop and requires a minimum of 4 attendees to run. As this workshop is offered twice a year, if minimum numbers aren’t met I’ll contact you 5 days before the workshop so you can choose to transfer to the next available date (subject to availability) or receive a refund.

What to Expect

This is a hands-on workshop. The techniques are delicate and require a certain level of dexterity and independence, but don’t worry—guidance will be provided every step of the way. If you’re unsure whether the workshop is right for you, please get in touch—I’m happy to discuss your needs and help you decide. My goal is for every participant to feel comfortable, confident, and able to fully enjoy the experience.

Age Guidance: The workshop is suitable for adults 18 and over. Participants aged 16–18 are welcome when accompanied by a paying adult—please contact me before booking.

What to Bring: You don’t need to bring anything, but you’re welcome to bring a notebook, an apron, a drink (water, tea, or coffee), and reading glasses if you use them.

Studio Guidelines: For safety and comfort in the studio, please tie back long hair, wear closed-toe shoes, and avoid loose clothing or dangling jewellery.

2 types of wax tubes enough for making 2 rings
Cost of 1 ring cast in sterling silver

Additional Information: At the end of the workshop, your wax ring will be weighed to estimate the weight of the silver.

If the wax ring weighs up to 1 gram, there will be no additional charges.
If the wax ring weighs between 1.01 grams and 1.5 grams, there will be an additional £30 charge.
If the wax ring weighs between 1.51 grams and 2 grams, there will be a £45 additional charge.

Optional Add-Ons:

Hallmarking (if desired): £30 per ring.
Casting both wax creations: Additional £50 per extra ring.
Casting in gold: Cost will be calculated based on current gold prices.
Gold plating (18ct yellow or rose): £30 per ring.
Engraving: £40 per ring.

All Silverkupe workshops are copyright protected. You may use the techniques you learn to create your own jewellery, but the workshop content may not be reproduced or taught. By booking, you agree to these terms.

Cancellations over 4 weeks in advance receive a full refund or reschedule. Within 4 weeks, no refund is available, but alternative dates will be offered. Workshops canceled by the instructor will be fully refunded or rescheduled.
