Beginner’s workshop – No experience is necessary.

Unlock your creativity and dive into the art of wax ring carving with this brand-new workshop delivered by experienced jeweller Ruby Tynan and hosted by Silverkupe.  Ruby will take you into the fascinating world of jewellery making and learn the art of creating unique and personalised rings using wax carving techniques.

You’ll witness the transformative power of wax as it takes shape while your tutor showcases initial techniques and the tools you will use. This demonstration serves as an inspiration and introduction to the endless possibilities that await you in this creative journey.

Your wax creations will then be sent away so that your creations can be transformed into sterling silver through the lost wax casting process.

With your booking you will also get a 15% discount voucher towards any jewellery purchase from Ruby Tynan and Silverkupe Jewellery collections.

You will also get 10% Discount Voucher for the Biscuit Factory Kitchen where you can get refreshments after a successful workshop.

Please see below for more details.

You will get two wax rings to work with. Initially you will practise with one of them and apply your final design to the other one.

After the initial demonstration, it’s time for you to unleash your imagination and design your own one-of-a-kind ring. With guidance from our tutor, you’ll learn the process of mapping out your design on the wax surface. From simple and elegant designs to intricate and complex patterns, the choice is entirely yours. This workshop provides a supportive environment where creativity flourishes, allowing you to express your unique style and personality.

Equipped with a variety of specialised tools, including scalpels, wax files, and carving tools, you’ll embark on the task of transforming your wax block into a wearable piece of art. Under the watchful eye of our instructor, you’ll learn carving techniques, such as subtractive carving, texturing, and detailing, that will bring your design to life. The tactile nature of wax carving allows you to fully engage with the creative process, bringing forth a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as you see your ring take shape.

Throughout the workshop, our instructor will provide personalised guidance and support, ensuring that you gain confidence in your skills and achieve the desired outcome. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, and receive valuable feedback, fostering a dynamic and collaborative learning environment.

At the end of the workshop, you’ll proudly hold in your hands a wax carving masterpiece, your very own unique ring design. Your wax rings will be transformed into sterling silver rings with the lost casting process and your rings will be posted to you approximately 10 days after the workshop.
